Heba's Story

Heba's Story

"I had decided that I would choose a girl with fair skin like mine so that she would be close to me and wouldn't suffer when she grows up due to differences in skin color."

My name is Heba, I'm single, a pharmacist, and I'm 40 years old. It had always been my dream to become a mother, but marriage wasn't in the cards for me. I wished to sponsor a girl in my home, but the law didn't allow unmarried women to do so.

I learned that the law had opened up sponsorship opportunities for unmarried women when I saw videos of Marwa and Yasmina, which gave me new hope in life. I took the step immediately.

I submitted the required paperwork, and thankfully, I was accepted. What was beautiful in all of this is that the approval came on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2021, which was the most beautiful day of my life.

I wanted to sponsor a little girl so I could experience all the moments of her life with her, her first smile, her first year, her first steps, her first "mama" word. I had decided that I would choose a girl with fair skin like mine so that she would be close to me and wouldn't suffer when she grows up due to differences in skin color. However, fate decided that she would be darker-skinned and from Upper Egypt. It was as if God was telling me, 'I am the one who chooses for you, not you.' She was the most beautiful choice that God made for me.

Thank God, from the moment she entered my home, it was filled with happiness and love. Life came back to us, and I now have a purpose to live for, and I have hope in life. I always pray that God gives me the ability to raise her in the way that pleases Him and that she loves.
